DESCRIPTION
IMF model L 500 DS
Imhoff tank made of monolithic polyethylene, smooth model, built in the rotational moulding technique (constant wall thickness 8/10 mm), with double compartment sedimentation and sludge digestion with reinforced lid. The tank is suitable for the primary treatment of waste water from residential or similar homes, with delivery in public sewage or secondary treatments. The pit is equipped with vent, PVC slurry inlet and outlet logs and caps for inspection and periodic maintenance.
Standard configuration of the product
Function and use
The imhoff tank is used as the primary treatment of black waste water from residential households or similar waste water. Upstream it is advisable to place a degreaser with the aim of eliminating the oils and fats present in the sewage arriving at the tank. The imhoff pit is a tank that has the function of favoring the sedimentation of the fine particles present inside the sewage to be treated and to break down an aliquot of the BOD5. The slurry entering the tank first enters the primary sedimentation compartment and then percolates into the underlying compartment used for anaerobic digestion of organic substances.
Sizing
In the sizing it should be kept in mind that the sedimentation compartment must allow about 4 6 hours of holding for peak flows; if the tanks are small, higher values are recommended; a certain capacity must be added per person for floating substances. As average values of the sedimentation compartment we have about 40 50 liters per user; in any case, even for smaller tanks, the capacity should not be less than 250 300 liters in total. For the mud compartment there are 100 120 liters per capita, in the case of at least two extractions per year; for smaller tanks it is advisable to adopt 180 200 liters per capita, with one extraction per year.
Calculation parameters
- Sedimentation: 40 liters/ A.E.
- Digestion: 100 liters/ A.E.
- Dimensional load: 140 liters/ A.E.
- Hydraulic load: 200 litres/A.E. per day
- Holding time: 4 6 hours (calculated on peak flow)
- Peak range: 3 x Qm
Accessories available and recommended
- Extension cord
- Telescopic manhole cover
- Fiscal well
Maintenance imhoff tank
Installation
For installation follow the instructions in our manual “Laying and Handling”.
To start
Fill the products with clean water in order to properly start the biological process.
- Feed the tanks with raw sewage
- In order to accelerate the start of the purification cycle, it is advisable to insert freeze-dried bacteria our accessory code cod ATT Y TBP
Maintenance
The maintenance of an Imhoff tank consists in the extraction of sludge and floating substances by means of authorized self-purges.
To do this, you need:
- Periodically check that no coarse bodies obstruct the inlets and outlets of sewage.
- Check that the vent pipe is free and if it is clogged provide for its cleaning.
- Periodically check the integrity of the pipes, gaskets and fittings to which the products are connected.
- Proceed with the removal of mud and surface crust through authorized company taking care to leave at least 1/3 of the mud on the bottom.
The frequency of cleaning of Imhoff tanks is to be determined according to the use of the product, however, the intervention of self-purging is periodically mandatory (at least once a year)..
- Refill the tank with clean water.
Use of the biological activator cod. ATT Y TBP
The activator informs of dust, accelerates the degradation of organic substances and the elimination of odors. How to use:
- Dose the product directly into the tank.
- Repeat the treatment regularly
- It is advisable not to use bleach or other disinfectants in order not to affect the effectiveness of the product.
- It is preferable to dose the activator in the evening, when the discharge is not in use, to give as much time as possible to the microorganisms to activate and act in the siphons and along the pipes to be treated.
- Dose 20 to 100 g for each m3 of volume of the pit.
- Start with shock treatment with 3 dosages per week and continue with a maintenance treatment with one dosage per week.
Certification of compliance pit Imhoff
The Imhoff type septic tanks are used for the primary treatment of domestic waste water or similar as indicated in the product data sheets.
They are made of polyethylene, through the system of “rotational molding” and comply with the requirements of the following Standards:

Warnings
We point out that the depurative performance of the Imhoff Di Camillo Serbatoi pit depends on the development of the whole sewage treatment plant, the characteristics of the input slurry in accordance with those given in the design data and the characteristic parameters of domestic or assimilated waste water, its state of use and its size, from its installation and periodic maintenance.
We recommend to check the suitability of the pit Imhoff Di Camillo Tanks with the competent body of the territory, since there are substantial differences on the solutions allowed by local authorities that could issue different and more restrictive provisions in compliance with the provisions of Legislative Decree. 152/06.
The plant solutions suggested by Di Camillo Serbatoi do not replace as role and function neither the competent Technician nor the Authority which is responsible for the authorization release.
Therefore Di Camillo Serbatoi declines all responsibility for Title V of D. Lgs. 152/06 every time the correct choice of plant solution authorized by the competent authority is not performed, the correct procedure of management of the purification process and the inadequate use of the equipment and manufactured components of the plant itself.
