    Anaerobic percolator filter in monolithic polyethylene corrugated by interro, built in the rotational moulding technique reinforced by horizontal and vertical ribs and with reinforced cover; inside there are PP filling bodies with a high specific surface, lying on a support grid positioned on the tank bottom.

    The anaerobic digestion of organic substances, which come from primary treatments, takes place inside the product. The outgoing sewage is collected by a suitable Thompson profile for the uniform distribution of the hydraulic load and can be discharged into surface water or sent to further treatment steps.

    The percolator filter is equipped with vents, PVC slurry inlet and outlet logs and caps for inspection and periodic maintenance.

    Function and use

    The anaerobic percolator filter is used in the secondary treatment of black waste water from residential or similar waste water, with delivery other than the sewerage; it is to be used downstream of imhoff pit and degreasers.

    The anaerobic percolator filter is a tank that has the function of biologically treating organic substances through anaerobic digestion. In the filter are therefore present decomposing microorganisms that take root on the surfaces of the polypropylene elements that favor the rooting of the adhesive biomass.



    For the dimensioning of percolator beds, the sector bibliography indicates a volumetric load factor of 0,1 0,4 kg BOD5/m³xg for traditional plants (with a specific area of 80 m2/m3) while for small plants a commitment of 0,1 0,3 m³/A.E. of traditional filling bodies. The adoption of this type of secondary treatment is designed for the purification of a sewage from primary pre-treatment carried out by half fossa imhoff.

    To start

    The start-up of the secondary purification system with anaerobic percolator filters is carried out by feeding the tank with sewage from primary treatments. After a few weeks of feeding you will have to notice the formation of a film that covers the surface of the filling bodies.


    Check that the coating film of the fillers remains at a constant thickness and that there is no excessive cloudiness of the outgoing waste.

    • Provide, in case of excessive coating material of the filling bodies to the washing of the filter with pressure water jet possibly in countercurrent by contacting specialized companies in the field (self-purging). – Periodically (at least once a year) remove any sludge from the bottom and/or surface crust.
    • Fill the tank again with clean water in case of overflow sludge


    Use of the biological activator

    The activator informs of dust, accelerates the degradation of organic substances and the elimination of odors. How to use:

    • Dose the product directly into the tank.
    • Repeat the treatment regularly
    • It is advisable not to use bleach or other disinfectants in order not to affect the effectiveness of the product.
    • It is preferable to dose the activator in the evening, when the discharge is not in use, to give as much time as possible to the microorganisms to activate and act in the siphons and along the
    • pipes to be treated.
    • Dose 1 capsule/AE.
    • Start with shock treatment with 3 dosages per week and continue with a maintenance treatment with one dosage per week.

    Certification of conformity

    Anaerobic percolator filters are used for the secondary treatment of domestic or similar waste water as indicated in the product data sheets (STC 01).

    They are made of polyethylene, through the system of “rotational molding” and comply with the requirements of the following Standards:

    • Lgs. Nº 152 of 03/04/2006 part III
    • D.G.R. Umbra 19 September 2018 n.1024

    Please note that the depurative performance of the plant depends on the development of the entire treatment plant the characteristics of the input sewage in accordance with those given in the design data and the characteristic parameters of domestic or assimilated waste water from primary treatment, its state of use and its dimensioning, from its installation and periodic maintenance.

    We recommend to check the suitability of the plant with the competent body of the territory, since there are substantial differences on the solutions allowed by local authorities that could issue different and more restrictive provisions in compliance with the provisions of Legislative Decree. 152/06.

    The system solutions suggested do not replace as role and function neither the competent Technician nor the Authority which is responsible for the authorization.

    Therefore declines any responsibility inherent in Title V of D. Lgs. 152/06 every time the correct choice of plant solution authorized by the competent authority is not performed, the correct procedure of management of the purification process and the inadequate use of the equipment and manufactured components of the plant itself.
